Try to make it a goal and watch a sunset soon. There is always a chance to see it rise again, but who knows. You might miss the best one yet. Picture by Erin Lynch/Staff

Rain is on its way to USAO, setting the perfect vibe for spring to get sprung. This brings change and an opportunity for transformation. From the gray and cold days to the colorful warm sunsets, springtime is the best time.

With spring comes daylight savings time, which is this weekend. Do not forget to set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. Those with smartphones will not have to worry, they do it automatically.

There is no better time than now to start spring cleaning. Opening the windows and doing a deep scrub can help you reset before summertime gets too hectic and overplanned. Remember to get plenty of air flowing through your area if using cleaning chemicals such as ammonia or bleach. The American Lung Association says some common side effects caused by cleaning chemicals are headaches and irritation in the eyes or throat.

With those windows open, crack open a good book or just bask in the sunlight. You can get your daily Vitamin D fix in a well-lit area of your home in a beanbag or go outside and enjoy the nice breeze in a hammock.

According to Piedmont Healthcare, studies have shown that exercising outdoors can lower blood pressure and heart rate, resulting in a better workout. If lifting weights is not your cup of tea, try taking a walk around your house or finding a nice park. Just ten minutes of exercise can help combat depression and anxiety. The USAO oval is a great spot to start. It is a sure place to find a friendly face.

More time in the sunshine requires ultraviolet protection because no one likes a second- degree burn on their shoulders. If anything, do not forget the sunscreen. The American Academy of Dermatology suggests using SPF of at least 30. No sunscreen can completely block the sun’s UVB rays so be sure to reapply if you have been out for longer than two hours to get the best defense out of your product. The higher the SPF, the better chance you have of protecting your skin.

Enjoy these warm sunny days and cool breezes to the fullest because the sweltering summer is on its way. With daylight savings going into effect this weekend, now is the time to spring into the sunshine and admire the greenery surrounding you. Take on a whole new appreciation for these things and admire what you have been without these few months. It is time to feel fabulous and fresh, friends.
