USAO’s women’s golf team snuck in a last-minute addition to their schedule as they competed in the Kyle Blaser Invitational hosted at the Greens Country Club (Par 72, 5955 yards) Monday, Mar. 25 in Oklahoma City. The tournament invited seven teams compete across 36 holes.

The Drovers had four players listed including freshman Emma Fields, sophomore Moriah Shropshire, freshman Emilee Slovak, and sophomore Kiera Stehr. The four-person squad battled cold winds in the local event.

Across two rounds, USAO shot 367 (+79) and 373 (+85) as a team to total 740 (+164). The Drovers placed seventh in the tournament.

Fields, the team’s one bag, placed 18th in the tournament. She shot 80 (+8) in round one, where she collected three birdies. In the second round, Fields shot 85 (+13) and added two more birdies to her total. She totaled 165 (+21).

Shropshire held her own as the team’s two bag as she shot rounds of 81 (+9) and 90 (+18). She tied for a 25th place finish. At the end of the tournament, Shropshire totaled 171 (+27).

Slovak, the team’s three bag, saw her first spring tournament as a Drover. She recorded scores of 103 (+31) and 96 (+24) for a total of 199 (+55). Slovak started her first round on hole 12 with a birdie. She placed 44th overall.

Stehr rounded out the team with scores of 103 (+31) and 102 (+30) to total 205 (+61). She seemed to find her footing in the middle of her first round as she recorded a birdie about halfway through the round. Stehr placed 47th overall.

The Drovers will remain in the state for their next tournament. The Susie Maxwell Berning Classic will be hosted at Lincoln Park West in OKC Monday, Apr. 8 through Apr. 9.
