SPO’s Wish Upon A Star Prince/Princess Pageant Is March 30
March 24, 2014
Sigma Psi Omega will hold its second annual Wish Upon a Star Prince/Princess Pageant Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m. in Te Ata Auditorium.
Both boys and girls ages birth through six are invited to participate. The entry fee for the pageant is $25. Entries will be accepted up until 2 p.m. the day of the pageant. Each participating child can bring one adult for free. Admission for adults is $3. Children who are not participating may attend for free.
The proceeds will benefit the sorority’s philanthropy, Make-A-Wish, and will help grant the wish of a child with a life-threatening illness.
Contestants will compete in either natural or semi-glitz categories for children to compete in. Prizes include savings bonds, crowns, and trophies.
“Members of Sigma Psi Omega have been busy for weeks sending out flyers, posting information on websites, collecting donations from businesses, and painting castles for the pageant,” Becca Hyde, a junior early childhood education major from Piedmont, said.
The pageant is a part of the sorority’s “Wish Week” to raise money for Make-A-Wish. They hosted a bake sale March 5 as well as a two-day garage sale.
“My favorite thing about wish week is raising money for such a great cause. It is very rewarding,” Hyde said.
