Thursday Oct. 23, USAO basketball held Drover Madness, the annual preseason showcase of both men’s and women’s basketball programs for the 2025-2026 season.
Drover Madness is an opportunity for both programs to introduce new players, build excitement for the upcoming season, and connect with the USAO and Chickasha community.
Following the energetic introduction for both teams, players got a chance to showcase their abilities with a three-point contest between both squads and a dunk contest for the men’s team. There are a lot of new faces to USAO basketball, and the players didn’t disappoint. During the dunk contest one of the new faces for the men’s team, freshman Bryce Cowns took the title of dunk champ with a dunk over two of his teammates.
Other entertainment from the night included a staff and faculty game of knockout, a game of musical chairs for younger kids in attendance, and a student relay race where students were chosen from the crowd to participate.
USAO basketball is officially underway with both teams active in pre-conference matchups. USAO Homecoming is this Saturday, Nov. 1, with the men’s team facing Barclay College at 4 p.m. and the women traveling to face University of North Texas at Dallas.
