The USAO women’s basketball team continues Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) play by hosting Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Thursday, Jan. 30, at 6:00 p.m. in the USAO Fieldhouse.

The Drovers (2-7 SAC) are 2-2 on SAC home games.  They lost to MACU (4-18 SAC) in the last match-up but are confident they can win this one.

“We are looking forward to this game,” said Coach Jennifer Hayden. “We lost to them when they hosted us, but this game we are the home team and I think we can beat them.”

“We are outsized, but yes, we can beat them,” said guard Sami Martin, sophomore psychology major.

“We must play smart and work the rebounds.”  Guard Brittany Elkins, senior physical education major, agreed.

“Our team has come a long way since last year,” said Elkins,  “[winning the game] will come down to our ability to get rebounds.”

Apparently, this is an appropriate assessment, considering in their previous game against Oklahoma City University, every Lady Drover who played scored.

This will be the first of a two-night theme, sponsored by USAO’s Women in Science and the Biology and Associated Science Club, titled “Paint the Fieldhouse Green,” in which all fans are asked to wear green to show support for the team.
