All it took were a couple of made free throws for the Drovers to send Oklahoma City University (OCU) home with a 71-70 loss.

The Stars came into the game with a 10-5 overall and 6-3 conference record when they visited the USAO Fieldhouse Jan. 25.

The Drovers (8-8 overall record, 5-4 conference) got out on a early, hot shooting 15-4 run in the first five minutes of the contest, but OCU used full court pressure throughout to force a close game that saw 10 lead changes.

As the final minute of this hard-fought battle ticked down, USAO led 68-64 and OCU was forced to start fouling after multiple failed steal attempts.  When the game was on the line, literally, Shavon Scott stepped up and knocked down his free throws. Scott, the senior guard from Milwaukee, Wis., made five of his last six free throws to help clinch the victory.

Scott also splashed in 19 points, six rebounds and went 7-8 from the foul stripe.

USAO outshot the Stars 43 percent to 38 percent for the game and crashed the boards by outrebounding the opposition 41-37.

Senior forward Jahseth Lloyd led all scorers with 24 point on 50 percent shooting and hit clutch free throws in the later stages of the game. He also added a game-high 14 rebounds, 4 blocked shots, and 2 steals.

David Tucker, Jr. and Tyler Reynolds finished the contest with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Drovers will host Mid-America University on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 5 p.m. and head to Shawnee on Saturday, Feb. 1, to play Oklahoma Baptist.
