USAO Women’s Basketball Plays Wayland Baptist This Saturday

The USAO women’s basketball team is set to square up against conference rival Wayland Baptist University Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. at the USAO Fieldhouse.
The Drovers are ranked 3-6 overall and 2-4 within the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). Sami Martin, a sophomore psychology major from Newalla, Okla., is the leading scorer with 113 points and Rashelle Carr, a senior physical education major from Duncan, Okla., is the leading rebounder with 55 rebounds.
The Wayland Jackrabbits are ranked 5-8 overall and 2-2 within the SAC.
The Drovers returned home from their conference road trip to play Wayland Baptist after two consecutive away games against Southwestern Assemblies of God and Texas Wesleyan.
“The team is feeling pretty confident about the game on Saturday,” Ndeye Ngom, a senior business major from Dakar, Senegal, said, “It will be our first home game since we got back so we are expecting a pretty big crowd.”
Jan. 18 is also Teacher Appreciation Day at the USAO Fieldhouse. Local teachers and their families may attend the game at no cost. The Student Activities Board will host games and contests at halftime.
