Students, it’s time to nominate your favorite teachers for the Superior Teacher Award.

Go to www.usao.edu/teaching-award and enter your name, student ID number, and select which teacher you wish to nominate along with details explaining why that teacher should win.

Including details that explain how the nominated teacher has influenced students’ academic lives is important.  Faculty members will review the nominees and the details included in the student nominations to decide which teacher will win, said Dr. Zach Simpson, Chair of the Superior Teacher Search Committee.

Students will have until the end of February 2014 to nominate teachers, said Simpson, and students are allowed to submit more than one teacher, but cannot submit the same teacher more than once.

Two teachers win the award every year, which includes a $1,000 prize, Simpson said.

Along with the prize money, teachers have a chance to see what kind of impact their efforts are making on their students.

“This is one of the few opportunities that students get to tell professors that they really like what they are up to and what they did,” Simpson said.
