National Media Convention: Departure Day

The Trend staff, myself excluded, departed for this year’s National College Media Convention this morning. This year’s conference is being held in the historic New Orleans, LA. The Associated Collegiate Press and College Media Association partner up to provide over 400 professional learning sessions, hands-on workshops and talented key note speaker presentations. This year is especially important for The Trend because this semester we made the difficult transition from a monthly printed news-magazine to an online news source. Our staff will pay close attention to workshops that provide answers for the challenges we’ve encountered. Typical attendance for the conference is around 2,300 students and advisors. Unfortunately I could not attend this year’s conference due to my soccer schedule, but I know the staff is in great hands with our advisor Dr. JC Casey and next semester’s editor Britton Brewer.

During the five day conference the staff will be providing updates on what they’ve learned. We are grateful for the success we’ve had so far with the website and we hope you stick with us as we grow and continue to improve.
