The Drovers were on a two game win streak after beating McPherson College 4-1 on Sept. 14.

Sophomore Liam Madden, was the hat trick hero scoring three goals all coming in the second half on assists from senior Perry Sansford and freshman Alwin Komolong. Sansford also scored a goal off a pass from junior Jean Gnapi in the third minute.

Junior starting goalkeeper, Bryan Byars, recorded four saves, with 12 shots-on-goal, and only allowing one goal.

The win streak was stopped by Bethel University the following day, Sept. 15.

After losing to Bethel University in 2011 on their home field, the nationally ranked Drovers were looking for redemption in front of a national broadcast audience but were unable to find it, succumbing to the Wildcats 2-1.

With two high powered offensive teams this was expected to be a high scoring affair, but both teams’ defenses shined in this game. Neither team scored until the 70th minute when senior Scott Parkinson headed the ball into the net off of a corner kick from sophomore Niall Burley to give the Drovers the 1-0 lead.

Bethel scored two goals in succession in the 76th minute to take the 2-1 lead.

The Drovers are now 3-3 going into a three game road span. USAO returns to Chickasha on Oct. 1 to face conference foe, Wayland Baptist.
