Drover Men Lose in Final Seconds

The USAO men’s soccer team conceded a goal in the final seconds of their game against Texas Brownsville on Thursday Sept. 5, losing 3-2.

USAO had 15 shots-on-goal, but the ball could not get past the Ocelots goalkeeper Ben Perez, who recorded five saves. One of those saves included a penalty kick by the Drovers’ Stephen Owusu, a sophomore from Accra, Ghana.

Owusu managed to score a goal in the third minute off an assist from sophomore Liam Madden. The Ocelots answered with two goals of their, only minutes apart from each other. Nat Scott, a junior from Bournemouth, England scored the Drovers’ second goal off an assist from sophomore Kyle Maxwell.

USAO’s goalkeeper Bryan Byars recorded three saves, with 12 shots-on-goal.

The Drovers are now 1-2 and will face Friends University in Kansas on Sept. 10.
