The Treat People with Kindness Club (TPWK) held its third annual Prom Boutique on Saturday. The boutique, held in the USAO Ballroom, had an attendance of around 100 people, and approximately 50-60 people left with a free outfit ready for prom.
Originally founded by USAO Student Life, the Prom Boutique was taken over by TPWK because they wanted to ensure it continued for the benefit of the community.
“We wanted to keep the event alive because we know how much of a burden this can take off of families and love to see all of the attendees smiles when they find the dress,” said Kenzie Reynolds, club president.
Reynolds talked about how the event helped the community in the search for prom clothes and accessories. Prom outfits can be incredibly expensive and are often unaffordable for many families.
“This event takes the pressure away and leaves the great feeling of getting to dress up with all your friends and dance,” she said.
The club would like the community to know that they accept donations for the boutique year-round. Donations include prom dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories.
“You can donate them by bringing them to USAO Admissions Office. We also would love more suits so we can have a bigger selection,” Reynolds said.
The USAO Admissions Office is in Troutt Hall, room 225.
