Finals week, Dec. 1-4, is a week of activities inspired to help students let loose during the end of semester tests to encourage productivity and efficiency in their studies.
Maddyson McMorris, President of the Student Activities Board (SAB), plans strategically to give students multiple opportunities throughout the week to pause from the weight of final exams.
“Students can get their minds off studying for just a little bit so they can come back and finish the week strong,” McMorris said.
Monday
On Dec. 1, the SAB plans to host a pool tournament at the Lawson Clubhouse from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with the chance of winning 75 dollars in flex. The only individuals to compete will be the ones who have filled out the link sent by SAB. There will also be Breakfast for Dinner on the second floor of the student center in Dusty’s and the Ballroom from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m… In addition, the movie Polar Express will be played with the inclusion of hot chocolate.
Tuesday
On Dec. 2, there will be donuts served by the SAB in the morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., on a golf cart.
Wednesday
On Dec. 3, Silent Disco will be held in the Ballroom on the second floor of the student center from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. There are headphones for everyone participating with three different stations to listen to, each radiating a different color.
Thursday
On Dec. 4, the Holiday Party finishes off the week of events, as people gather to celebrate the end of the year and the end of the semester before going on winter break. The party will be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. with the activities of Christmas karaoke, raffles, ugly sweater contest, and ornament decorating.
With SAB acting in precision on all the fine details during their weekly meetings, finals week will surely be a way to help students with campus distress and take time to themselves as they get through their last week on campus.
“Final week events are meant to destress. It’s just something to kind of get away from studying, and to celebrate students,” McMorris said.
