Hey there Drovers! You made it through the second week of the spring trimester. Congratulations!

Recapping last week, Emily Loughridge posted “Five Tips for Your First 5K,” giving her insight and advice to running a challenging race.  As a beginner runner myself, it is nice to read an article from another beginner runner as well.

The Student Activities Board’s Hot Cocoa Social was a success. Emily and I loved interacting with the campus and getting to pass out marshmallows to people for their hot chocolate.

Quick recap over, this week at The Trend will be a pretty full week. We look forward to getting many music and movie reviews from the News II class, and I am sure we will read many interesting and thought-provoking perspectives on today’s films and music. I put on my headphones and reviewed the Billboard’s number one album for the year 2022. I had many thoughts on the album while listening to it, and they can all be viewed in my new article “Bad Bunny’s ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ (Album Review).”

The Choir Ensemble also traveled to OKMEA in Tulsa last week, so be on the lookout for the article covering their trip written by a new face on campus Gabi Merchen.

Dr. James Finck will be once again publishing his personal blog named “Historically Speaking,’ on The Trend. His blog is where he compares modern events to events that have happened in history. This week’s column will be titled “Historically Speaking: First Amendment and Twitter,” which made our editors pause to think after reading.

As always, if you are interested in writing for The Trend or have any ideas, send us an email or stop by our office! Our email is trend@usao.edu and our office is located in Davis Hall 117.

With that said, manage your time wisely, and remember to have a wonderful week USAO!
