Guthrie Offers Ghost Tours
October 31, 2016
Unknown to a portion of the population, the town of Guthrie, Okla. has an interesting tourist attraction – a ghost tour. Often a popular choice in the fall, near Halloween, the ghost tour is offered to the public throughout the year, often on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, but that changes periodically.
There are three different tours that you have the chance of taking a part in, which is revealed to the participants once you arrive. After paying $10 for adults or $7 for children ages seven to 14, you get to start at Apothecary Garden and be assigned a tour guide, who will lead you around downtown Guthrie.
These guides will share both the history of the town and paranormal stories with the participants. Most of the stories deal with tragic accidents, such as woman being brutally treated in a strip club and haunting the second story of that building, by making footsteps when thy place is closed and empty, or corning people in the bathroom. More stories include a tragic love story about a girl who haunts the railroad tracks, looking for her lover who was supposed to be coming home from war. There is also one about a misogynistic owner of a shop downtown who used to trip women down stairs and still does it to this day, just not in his physical, human form.
While going on these tours, which usually last about 90 minutes, you are introduced to the cultural history of Guthrie along with the scenery of the town and the architecture of the buildings. You also have the opportunity to make friends with the people in your group and the tour guides.
With the options of a theatre, restaurants and bars, the tour can lead the participants to explore other activities and entertainment options in the town.
The Guthrie Ghost Walk has social media sites that offer quick and easy access to dates, cancellations, entrance prices, summaries of historical events and tour options. They frequently update their Facebook page and website to provide the most accurate information to people of all ages who are interested in taking a walk across Guthrie in search of historical information and paranormal activity.
