Two Freshmen on All-Tournament Team

Freshmen Addysyn Asmus and Hudson Woloss placed 4th and 5th respectively in the women’s last tournament of the fall season, Thorntree Throwdown.

USAO’s women’s golf team closed their fall season at the Thorntree Throwdown hosted at Thorntree Country Club (Yards 5822, Par 72) in DeSoto, TX.

The five teams played through strong winds and steady rain until play was suspended, due to torrential rain, for two hours on the first day of the tournament. As a team, the ladies scored 352 and 347 for an overall score of 699 which earned the team a 4th place finish as a team.

The team had two freshmen place in the top five in this tournament. Addysyn Asmus placed 4th overall with a first-round score of 87 (+15) and a second-round score of 82 (+10) for a total of 169 (+25). Hudson Woloss placed 5th with a total of 170 (+26). Woloss shot 88 (+16) in round one and 82 (+10) in round two to secure her leaderboard position.

Next up Alix Shueneman tied for 15th with a first-round score of 87 (+15) and followed it with a 91 (+19) to total 178 (+34). Close behind Shueneman was the lone senior Allison Riddle. She shot 90 (+18) in round one and followed it with a 92 (+20) to total 182 (+38) for a 17th place finish. Freshman Moriah Shropshire shot 92 (+20) and 95 (+23) to earn a 22nd place finish with a final score of 187 (+43).

The individuals Caitlyn Henson, Kiera Stehr, and Hayley Forsblom fought hard against the poor weather conditions as well. Henson, a sophomore, scored 87 (+15) and 96 (+24) to total 183 (+39) earning her a tied 18th finish. Stehr placed 24th after shooting 100 (+28) and 95 (+23) for a total of 195 (+51). Finally, Forsbolm ended the last fall tournament with scores of 99 (+27) and 102 (+30) for a final score of 201 (+57) which earned her a 28th place finish.

The women’s team will play again during their spring season.

Addysyn Asmus is a first-year Communication major from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
