USAO got off to a fast start in their first series game on Friday and never stopped, scoring 14 runs in the first inning to beat the Lions 20-1.

A scheduled nine inning game only went seven after the Drovers run-ruled Southwestern Assemblies of God.

USAO scored the first 15 runs before the Lions scored their first. The Drovers went through their line-up twice before the first inning was over.

Senior pitcher Chris Fischer pitched five innings for the Drovers, and threw five strikeouts before junior Dave Abney came in to close the game.

The Lions defense recorded six errors and the USAO offense took advantage.

Senior Eddie Malone went 2-for-2 at the plate, hitting a triple, scoring three runs, and recorded four RBI’s. Senior Rafael Pena also put up big numbers for the Drovers. Pena went 4-for-4 at the plate, scored two runs, and recorded three RBI’s.

This was the first of the three game series this weekend. On Saturday, the Drovers split the double-header against the Lions.

After a seventh-inning rally ended, the USAO Drovers lost to SAGU 5-4 in the first game.  They came back in the second game winning 8-2.  SAGU scored two points in the top of the fourth inning to which the Drovers responded with eight points in the same inning.

The Drovers play their next series in Plainview, TX, on April 4-5 against Wayland Baptist University.
