USAO Baseball Team Takes Series Sweep Over Ravens
February 17, 2014
USAO sent the Ravens home with two losses, beating them 11-0 and 7-3 to take the series.
After splitting the series with Friend, the Drovers (5-2) took the sweep against Benedictine College (0-3) to end the weekend on a good note.
In game one, the Drover offense was clicking on all cylinders including an eight run burst in the fifth inning.
Junior pitcher, Jose Flores was on the mound for the first six innings for USAO. Flores struck out 11 of 19 batters and only allowed one hit. Junior relief pitcher, Brad Smith came in the final inning and struck out one batter.
In game two, USAO started like they did in the first game. The Drovers went into the fourth inning on top, 3-1, but junior Chris Musick and senior Eddie Malone hit back-to-back home runs to extend the Drover lead.
Sophomore pitcher, Josh Terrell started on the mound for the Drovers, striking out five batters. Isaac Rodriguez closed out the game for the Drovers, throwing two strikeouts to end the game.
The Drovers go on the road to face Hillsdale Freewill Baptist College on February 18 and return home for a four game series against St. Mary’s on February 21 and 22. Games start at 1 p.m. both days.
