Student Government Association Has New President This Trimester

USAO’s Student Government Association (SGA) has a new president this trimester. Amanda Robinson, senior political science major, is stepping in for former president Chris Collins, who is currently studying abroad in Wales and is therefore unable to fulfill his duties as president.
“I didn’t realize how scary it was going to be,” Robinson said on her recent election. “I’m so excited, though, and really looking forward to the challenge.”
One of the main goals for SGA this trimester is replacing the trees knocked down behind the Lawson Courthouse during the bad weather over the winter break.
Every year USAO is given the Tree Campus USA award for effectively managing trees and engaging students on campus. SGA hopes to help the campus keep that award by replacing the trees as soon as possible.
“When we receive the award we pledge to spend X amount of dollars per student on campus beautification, specifically for the trees,” said Robinson.
Other goals for the trimester include putting in a phone charging station in the Wellness Center, placing recycling bins in Davis Hall and Sparks Hall, and ordering T-shirts, programs, and snacks for the Leadership Conference on Feb. 11.
