The Flying Queens of Wayland Baptist hit a late surge in the second half to win 75-66, defeating the Drovers in a close game at the Drover Fieldhouse.

USAO (3-7, 2-5) lead at halftime 37-34, but couldn’t hold on in a back and forth game that went down to the wire. In the last minute of the game, Wayland Baptist (7-8, 4-2) scored six unanswered points to end USAO’s hopes.

Going into halftime it seemed the Drovers could win this game and end the conference slump they were in. The Flying Queens had other intentions out scoring USAO, 41-29 in the second half.

Wayland Baptist’s Angeleigh Davis who scored 19 points and the Drovers Brittany Elkins who scored 18 points led both teams in scoring.

USAO had several other players score in double figures including, up and coming sophomore Sami Martin with 13 points and senior Rashelle Carr who racked up 17 points.

The Drovers next home game will be on January 25 at 3 p.m. against the number three team in the land, Oklahoma City. The First National Bank of Chickasha will be sponsoring the game.
