Senior communication major Addysyn Asmus will host her senior project, a pickleball tournament, Monday, Nov. 18, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the USAO Tennis Courts. This event is open to everyone on USAO’s campus, including faculty and alumni.
“Whether you are a seasoned player or just a beginner, it is a perfect way to enjoy some action and connect with friends,” Asmus said.
She is hosting this event as a way for all participants to have a fun activity and an opportunity to get away from the responsibilities of this trimester as it comes to a close.
The tournament will be placed in a bracket format with two players on each team. The player and their partner will compete against other teams, with the winners advancing to the next round. The winners of the entire tournament will receive a gift card for both participants.
The following are the rules for this pickleball tournament:
- When serving the ball, it must land in the box diagonally across the court.
- The player and their teammate will get the chance to serve before the other team takes possession.
- Each team will only score when they are serving.
- The ball can only bounce once, it must be returned to the other team after one bounce.
- The game will be played to 11 points and the winning team will need to win by at least two points.
Asmus hopes that this event will spark more activities like this at USAO and bring more students closer together.
“It can be a fun way to connect with people you might be unfamiliar with or just to have fun with your friends on campus”, she said.
Anyone needing further information regarding the event can contact Asmus at her email Aasm9605@usao.edu.
