The Gardening Club meets in the Lawson Clubhouse Greenhouse with future meeting times to be determined. Right now, the club is rebuilding because their former president graduated not long ago.
The club said they hope that they can start growing plants in the greenhouse, but there is a lot of work to do before then.
“The Gardening Club is a social club with the purpose of making a bright, beautiful place on campus for people to enjoy,” said Jolene Eduvigen, president of the Gardening Club.
Eduvigen and the rest of the club plan on doing bake sales in the near future for fundraising. The funds raised will go towards repairing the greenhouse, adding shelves for plants, and purchasing heaters and fans to regulate the environment in the greenhouse for the plants.
Anyone can join the Gardening Club, as all majors are welcome to participate. Eduvigen said that even if students have a plant they don’t want anymore, the club will take it and place it in the greenhouse.
“I am very excited for the growth of this club and pumped to see our campus bloom,” Jocie Shelton, art education major, said.
Events that the club wants to hold later this year are painting pots then potting plants inside them, contributing to the landscape around campus by planting new plants, and potentially growing vegetables for the cafeteria.
