Hey there Drovers! What a trimester we’ve had so far. If all goes normal this week, this will be our first full week of classes, which is crazy to think about.

With that said, here is a look at what will be happening this week at The Trend. The week will kick off with The Trend’s second meeting in the Music Pocket in Nash Library on Monday, February 6th, starting at 4:10 p.m. Any and all are invited to attend as The Trend discusses new articles and ideas.

The News Reporting II class is still working in high gear. Last week’s movie review was “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” by Gabi Merchen. This week’s movie review will come from Addysyn Asmus, as she reviews the 2019 film “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” directed by Rian Johnson.

Anastasia Dulle will be making her debut for The Trend with her article covering the Students for a Progressive Society’s (SPS) protest of Senate Bill 129 and House Bill 101, which will ban healthcare for transgender people of a certain age. This protest will take place Tuesday, February 7th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. along the center strip of 17th street in Chickasha.

Merchen reports on Governor Stitt’s decision to block TikTok on all government devices within the state of Oklahoma. The Trend conducted a random, unscientific survey about how USAO students felt about the decision. The results can be seen in Merchen’s article, which will be published on Thursday.

Matthew Yokum put on his headphones and listened to Ice Spice’s 2023 Album “Like…?”. His thoughts and opinions can be read in his article running on Friday.

As always, if you are interested in writing for The Trend or have any ideas, send us an email or stop by our office! Our email is trend@usao.edu and our office is located in Davis Hall 117. Remember, manage your time wisely, drink plenty of water, and have a wonderful week USAO!
