Droverstock: the Literal Best Day on Campus

This year’s Droverstock will host a hypnotist at 2:30 p.m. during an event titled “Hypnopalooza”.

The absolutely brilliant, most whimsical, carefree day on campus is upon us; and this year,  you can get hypnotized. Yes, you read me right, a hypnotist will be on campus during Droverstock thanks to a larger budget for this year’s festivities. Droverstock will host “Hypnopalooza” at 2:30pm during the festival and will be open to everyone.

Along with this new addition to Droverstock, the day will feature the beloved Montmartre Chalk Festival and musical performances that are always delightfully expected. For those who are reading and have absolutely no idea what Droverstock is, it is an all-day music and arts festival put on yearly by USAO.

The activities make up the university’s Spring Triad, which consist of academic competitions, Montmatre Chalk Art Festival and the Droverstock Music Festival. The event is glorious as you are surrounded by food, friends, art, music and inflatables everywhere. Did I mentioned classes are canceled? Canceled.

As far as vendors, Kryste Turley, head of the Droverstock committee, informed me that they have received more outside vendor inquiries than ever. I’m personally hoping I heart Yogurt is one of them.

Due to the influx in attention from the community, the vendor reservation process will run a little differently this year.

“We are doing away with green, gold and white zones. Now the booths are one flat rate depending on what you’re doing, and then you can pay for ad ones. For instance if you want a tent, you pay an extra fee, if you want electricity, you pay an extra fee, and so on,” according to Turley.

Online registration to reserve a booth is currently open on the USAO website on a first come first serve basis. Droverstock will host the usual inflatables including a mechanical bull, a rock wall and outdoor laser tag. Contracts for the bands were sent out on February 24th, and the committee expects to confirm the lineup soon. Until then, it is still a mystery of who will be performing at the festival.

I was able to pry a small bit of information about the lineup from Turley. She confirmed the potential bands are all brand new, having never played on campus before. With that I say a sad goodbye to my beloved Nicnos but an anxious hello to new local performers. Droverstock will be April 6th and will span the entirety of the day. So come out and have a good ole’ time at literally the best day on campus.
