Masterminds (Movie Review)
October 24, 2016
Going into the 2016 comedy Masterminds, I hadn’t really even heard anything about it. I never saw the trailer or heard anything about it online, so my first impression of the movie came from the poster I saw going into the movie. A poster covered in all of the big names in comedy at the moment was enough for me to be excited about it.
Masterminds stars Kristen Wiig, Zach Galifianakis, Jason Sudekis, Owen Wilson and Kate Mckinnon. The movie gave high expectations, which it totally met.
The movie follows a true story of a not so confident guy who falls for a money hungry hot girl. They work at a company that distributes money to ATMs and handles millions of dollars. Wiig’s character, with help of Wilson’s, convinces a timid guy played by Galifianakis to rob the company of millions of dollars in exchange for the love of Wiig’s character.
This movie met and exceeded expectations of humor, plot and characters. With a supporting cast like Mckinnon and Sudekis, who shine just as bright as all the others, no character is bland or not funny. There are some moments of adult humor, but the PG-13 rating fit. This is a hilarious movie and similar to Bridesmaids, We’re the Millers, and Horrible Bosses.
With action, humor and a non-fictional plot, this is a movie definitely worth seeing.
