Apply for the Brad Henry International Scholars Program!
February 5, 2016
The Brad Henry International Scholars Program allows a USAO student to transfer to Swansea University for one full spring or fall semester. The deadline to apply for the program is Friday, Feb. 19.
The student that is awarded the Brad Henry International Scholars Program is given the chance to travel to Wales, and is also given the ability to experience school at Swansea University. The program provides a unique experience by allowing a student to spend a semester abroad in another culture and gain college credit that applies to the student’s degree back at home.
Dr. Brenda Brown, professor of English, has helped students apply in the past.
“It is a transformative experience for everyone that has a chance to go,” said Brown.
To qualify for the Wales study abroad program students must be at least 18 years of age or older and an Oklahoma resident, according to the application.
To qualify academically, students who apply have to be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) at a college, be in good academic standing with the school and have at least 30 hours of college credits.
Any students that want to apply must also submit information, documents, acknowledgments, releases for photos and testimonials and authorizations as required by the Oklahoma State Regents.
The application is an easy process that consists of a resume, a transcript, a 300 word essay outlining future academic and professional goals and two letter references.
Previous recipients of the Brad Henry International Scholars Program are Chris Collins, a USAO alumnus, and Connor Cheek, senior physics and math major. The current recipient of the program is junior art major Logan Webb.
To apply, contact Brown for an application. She is located in Davis Hall, room 119B and will be accepting applications until Friday, Feb. 19.
