Folks, we have made it to fall break! This two-day break that provides a bit of mental relief and hopefully recharges everyone so that we can finish the trimester strong! The weeks seem to fly by, and I am still unsure if this is a good or bad thing. I am constantly reminded to stop for a moment, take a deep breath, and enjoy this chapter in my life. While the days seem stressful and exhausting, there are a lot of good things around for everyone. While it is cliché, don’t forget to stop and smell the roses every once and while.

Now, on to the important The Trend information! For this short week, we have two postings on the agenda! Thomas Buchanan is back with another comic that will make you chuckle and realize how lucky you are to be at USAO. Caleb Smith will issue his fifth article for The Trend with his continued coverage of the men’s golf team. Both of these writers have postings within the top ten Trending Stories. Currently, Buchanan’s first set of comics are sitting in the third-place spot. Smith has three articles in the top ten, they sit at fifth, seventh, and ninth.

Two writers that I would like to give a special shoutout to because they have shown an impressive level of dedication and passion for The Trend this trimester are Hannah Dudleson and Bea Bourland. These two women have been running around campus talking to everyone about important things happening. Dudleson covered the hot topic of suspended programs and Bourland explained scientific research conducted by Dr. Doughan, Delaney Medcalf, Tyler Lavey, and Joe Ummel. The Trend is very lucky to have these two on staff, and I cannot wait to see what they write next.

Finally, our next Writer Meeting is October 12th at 3 pm! If you have any ideas or want to write a piece for The Trend please email, DM, or swing by our office for more information. Don’t forget about The Trend and Communication department’s sponsored event, Opal on the Oval, on October 24th at 7 pm!
