A Town on the Move!

Chickasha has been dubbed a “town on the move” due to the influx of new businesses calling our small town their home. Photo by Emily Loughridge.

The town of Chickasha is growing to include more diverse restaurants, activities, and events. Over the summer and into the fall, Chickasha is looking to add another coffee shop, a unique tea place, a Japanese steakhouse, and many other places.

Rachel Bernish, the Director of Community Development, said “Hopefully the attitude where people leave [Chickasha] on the weekends will go away. Hopefully families, locals, students, and everyone won’t feel like they have to go to Norman or Oklahoma City. Maybe they can stay in town and enjoy Chickasha.”

In the next few months Chickasha will be welcoming several new businesses, including HTeaO, Starbucks, and a sushi and Japanese Steakhouse. The HTeaO will be located on the corner of S Fourth St and W Missouri Ave, although the building has not begun construction yet. After finalizing its renovations, Campus Corner has an open suite where the sushi and Japanese Steakhouse will reside.

The Flower Shop Winery and Pizzeria will obtain their alcohol permit in June. The Speak, the Canadian River Brewing Co., and the Shakespeare Wine Co. also serve alcoholic beverages. The Shakespeare Wine Co. is a locally sourced winery that does tastings and events.

If alcoholic beverages aren’t your cup of tea, then Iron Tree Coffee Co. made their way onto Fourth St in late April. Viridian Coffee is another favorite hangout for many locals and college students.

Once your thirst is quenched, try some unique Chickasha dining locations. Such as Alexander Eats, Crazy 8 Café, Shollie’s Sweets, Popworth’s Kettlecorn, or Jungle Ice Fun Zone. All these locations are filled with unique atmospheres, staff members, and meal options. Whether you are a seasoned Chickasha resident, a college student, or just driving through town these are must-stop-at locations. There is more on the horizon for Chickasha, like Brandi’s Bar and Grill which will hopefully open in August. We have much to look forward to, as Drovers.
