Drover Madness is a traditional event at USAO that has been going on for some time now. The previous Athletic Director, Brisco McPherson, started Drover Madness when he became the head coach, and it has been around ever since.

Coach Francis, the men’s basketball head coach said it is a great way for the men and women’s basketball teams to kick off the season. We are starting off by introducing our women’s team and then the men’s team. There are usually three to four teams’ events including a 3-point shooting contest, a dribbling obstacle course, men and women shooting competition, and saving the best for last – the dunk contest.

In between these events there will be mini games for the community to play as well. Kids, fans, students, faculty and staff, and so much more.

“We love to get everyone involved” said Francis. It helps to have great sponsor’s like Jake’s Rib, who is always willing to provide our town with great food service. This ensures a good meal while we have a green vs. white basketball scrimmage. This event is open to the entire public so come on out not just to support, but also enjoy an opening season with your local basketball team – the Drovers.
