A bright USAO sign shines as the sun sets during Droverstock 2024
Take off your headphones and get outside, because Droverstock is happening this Thursday, April 3, from 4-11 p.m.
Droverstock is the headlining attraction for USAO’s annual Spring Triad. The triad is held to celebrate the community and the spring semester with other events including the Scholastic Meet, Junior Day, and the Montmartre Chalk Art Festival happening throughout the day.
Planning for Droverstock in particular is under the direction of the Student Activities Board (SAB). This year, the SAB Droverstock and Nightlife chair is Cassie Srock. Srock has been working hard on planning around this year’s theme of “Red Dirt Country.”
In terms of her wishes for the festival, Srock hopes to see the community of Chickasha join campus in all of the activities.
“I want people to have fun and just enjoy each other’s presence. Droverstock is a fun, free, family event after all,” said Srock.
The order of events is as follows:
4:00 PM – Droverstock begins in the Oval
Inflatables
Mechanical Bull
Food Trucks
Vendors
Merch Tent
Beer Garden
4:00 PM – Main Stage: Life Raft Debate (featuring defending debate champion Dr. Boyde and four new contenders.)
4:30 PM: Live DJ
5:00 PM: Dinner service kicks off the Cecil Special BBQ brisket plate (Students can use meal swipes)
5:45 PM: Jaxen Mannering & The Road Dogs
6:45 PM: The Hunter Hughes Band
7:45 PM: Adara Kay
9:15 PM: Trenton Fletcher
Droverstock is free for anyone who wants to attend, although, amenities like the food trucks, the beer garden, and items sold by vendors will cost. If interested in any of these amenities, be sure to bring your wallet.
There is a chance of inclement weather on Thursday during the festival, however, this won’t cancel Droverstock. Plans to move the festival inside Drover Fieldhouse are in place. The final call on the location will be made on Wednesday, April 2.
