Wednesday, December 4 was the day music lovers around the world were waiting for; the day Spotify Wrapped was released. This yearly tradition changes its format and design every year, but all Spotify users get a list of their five most listened-to songs and top five artists of the last 12 months, plus a few fun insights into their listening habits.
USAO’s campus contains a wide variety of students, with a diversity of music tastes. Ten USAO students were randomly polled around campus during finals week for their top song on Spotify Wrapped this year.

The presentation for this year’s Spotify Wrapped could be considered controversial, as it took a different approach to the information it presented. Rather than using hard data throughout the year, Spotify compiled genres from a select few months for each musical analysis.
The problem with this is that many of the results people received seemed unrelatable and strange, as only a few months of time doesn’t always dictate someone’s music taste for a full year. It also brings in the issue with AI as these bizarre results are attributed to an automated system.
While missing some of its original statistics and charm from previous years, students were still able to view their musical tastes from 2024 and share them with family and friends.
