Editor-in-Chief Emily Loughridge welcomes students back to campus and shares some exciting stats from the fall trimester.

Emily Loughridge, Editor-in-Chief

Welcome back, Drovers! The Trend (and I) are so happy to see everyone back on campus! I am honored to say that the fall trimester boasted the highest number of articles posted across the last year with 70 published articles! Thank you to our talented staff for conducting numerous interviews, typing away at keyboards, and finding articles at every corner. Another thank you to our readers, your support and viewership drives The Trend and our staff! With all of this in mind, I cannot express to you how excited I am for this spring trimester. We have so many ideas already and they’ll be on your virtual doorstep very soon!

While everyone regains their footing in the new trimester, our article schedule is a little unsure. Several writers are out in the field interviewing, gathering information, and capturing photos! A few articles to look forward to are tips for training for a 5K and a couple basketball photo essays. USAO’s basketball teams are dominating on the court this season, and Laura Barrios Bardi has captured several memorable moments.

The Trend will get back to its regular schedule after our first Writer’s Meeting of the trimester. The meeting is scheduled for January 23rd at 4:10 pm in Nash Library’s Music Library. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend these meetings, and I highly encourage you to. This is the place to be to figure out what is happening on campus and to let your voice be heard! Our meetings allow our staff to gather, share ideas, and hand out various assignments.

The Trend will also attend the Student Activities Board’s Hot Cocoa Social Thursday in the ballroom. The event begins at 3pm, and both Paul and I hope to see you there!

If you have an idea or have questions for The Trend, never hesitate to send us an email or visit our office. Our email is trend@usao.edu and our office is Davis Hall 117. You can also find us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for the most recent events on campus. Just look for Opal, our owl!
