School begins in six days but before school begins we will see the Drovers make their 2011 debut in hopes of being a better team than last year. The men's team made a trip to the NAIA quarterfinals and ended their season with a 16-5 record which marks a tie for second in wins for a season in school history. Along with going to the national tournament and going the furthest in school history we will see the Drover team debut at number 15 in the top 25 coach's poll.
The Women are a totaly different team as they will look to build on the success of getting into the conference tournament and dealing with the toughest conference opponents in the nation. The Drover women was three games away from being in the middle of the pack last year and will hope that they will make it to the middle this season.
So why does this matter why am I writing this blog well the reason is you have two teams that bring pride to the USAO community. These two teams are the most successful programs in the fact that neither team has really had a losing season. With neither team going below the .500 mark ever in school history.
As a senior who will be in his last semester at USAO, I have gotten to know these teams real well as this will be my third season watching a Drover soccer game. Last year was a great time for me as a reporter as I got to enjoy a nationl tournament run that took me to south Texas and Alabama to witness school history. If you get a chance make sure you take a Drover soccer game, I know football is much better in your mind but trust me to see a winning team is a gift.
